Adrien Audoux (1903-1991) and Frida Minnet (1897-1992) were a couple of Swiss designers who lived in the Alpes Maritimes in the 1940s and 1950s. They came to the region on their honeymoon and settled in Cannes-La-Bocca in 1929, then in Golfe-Juan in 1942. Frida Minnet's father was a rattan furniture manufacturer in Montreux, Switzerland (J. Minnet, Jean Minnet). They are known for their furniture and lighting in rattan, rope and raffia. Documentation on the couple remains very sketchy and there are very few photographic archives from the time the couple worked, especially as they had no catalogues and it seems that many of their creations were made to order, including a private commission for the famous fashion designer Christian Dior. They retired in 1965 and the Audoux-Minnet factory was bought by Pierre Bianchi in 1965.
The Audoux-Minnet couple designed this cantilever armchair in the 1950s.
